The Black Saturday Gallery, located in the foyer of the hearings rooms, was established on 24 August 2009 and finished on 26 May 2010.
exhibitions featured work by artists from Kinglake, Marysville, Buxton, Acheron and Healesville.
exhibition was devoted to artwork by children from bushfire-affected areas.
exhibition featured previous artists and some new faces as well.
The Gallery was an important part of the Commission’s connection with the community. Not only did it add interest and colour to the public sitting and viewing area; it offered the opportunity for people to tell their stories and share their journeys through their art. Six images from the four exhibitions that were held are on the covers of the volumes of the Commission’s interim and final reports.
The Commission thanks the artists who generously shared their work and their insights.
